Where it comes from.

Two materials that age in opposite directions

The marble-and-brass pairing runs through Italian and French high design from the 1930s onward, and it works because the two materials fail in complementary ways.

Marble is a metamorphic limestone: porous, reactive to acid, cool to the touch. Calacatta and Statuario carry dramatic grey veining on a white ground, travertine is pitted and warmer, Nero Marquina is near-black with sharp white veins. All of them etch where something acidic sits on them, and that etching is permanent.

Brass does the opposite. It tarnishes across its whole surface rather than at points, moving from bright yellow toward a deep brown patina. Lacquered brass delays the process and then wears through unevenly; unlacquered brass simply does it, consistently and predictably.

A console pairing the two is therefore a decision about maintenance as much as appearance. Left alone, both surfaces will change. Whether that reads as ruin or as age depends on the stone chosen and on where the piece stands.

Choose your leather (full-grain, semi-aniline, or pull-up) or fabric (linen, velvet, bouclé, performance). Frame in kiln-dried hardwood. Cushions in high-density foam + down topper.

Finish

Legs and metalwork in your finish — brushed brass, gilded, matte black, gunmetal, or polished chrome. Each commission hand-finished.

White-glove delivery and installation by our own team across Bangkok and Greater Thailand is included on most pieces.
