The Design

The Sala began as a question: what does rest actually look like in the moments between rooms? Not the performance of relaxation — the real thing, on the side of a sofa or at the foot of a bed.

Tiered concentric bands, upholstered in a single continuous fabric, set on a polished brass base. The seams are aligned by hand so the geometry reads as one piece rather than four. The brass band catches the floor light without competing with the textile above it.

It was designed for the evening hour, when the light is long and there is nowhere else to be. The proportions are generous but not bulky. The silhouette belongs at the side of a primary seat — extra seating, footrest, or quiet sculptural object.
